The demands of the creative economy in the context of global competition are something that must be prepared for. Entrepreneurial style doesn’t suddenly come but requires a long process to form. Realizing this paradigm, SMP/SMAK PLUS PENABUR Cirebon is massively trying to train and develop students’ entrepreneurial styles to prepare students for the global economic competition. The addition of Entrepreneurship subjects in Extracurricular activities proved the school’s commitment to realizing this hope.
"Students in grades 10 to 12 all receive entrepreneurship learning which we focus on cultivating business intuition and preparing an entrepreneurial mentality. In semester 1, all students take the International Entrepreneur Certification, by doing a short course with Maranatha Christian University Bandung for 3 months and taking a test to get an internationally valid certificate," explained Mr. Rusmin, the Entrepreneurship teacher, who is familiar with the students and also the Deputy Principal for Student Affairs at SMA KRISTEN PLUS PENABUR Cirebon.
Another breakthrough made by the school is by providing Plussian Mart, a business unit to train students in managing a retail business unit. Plussian Mart was initiated in October 2023 and began operating at the beginning of semester 2 of the 2023/2024 academic year. Under the management of teachers, the Entrepreneurship Study Unit is a vehicle for students to practice and explore the knowledge they have received in learning. “It’s really fun ... "We can know the theory about discounts, marketing, procurement of goods, management of goods, etc," explained Janice, one of the class X students who had the opportunity to work in the operationalization of Plussian Mart.
